Mark Tilley, Ph.D. CEO and Chairman of the Board Dr. Mark Tilley is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Unidym. He also serves as Vice President, Advanced Materials of Arrowhead Research Corporation (NASDAQ: ARWR). Prior to joining Arrowhead, he spent 9 years at DSM N.V.; a $12B Netherlands based specialty performance materials and life science company. Most recently, he served as Senior Investment Manager with DSM's Corporate Venturing Arm and served on the boards of CreAgri, Novomer, Van Technologies, Harland Medical Systems and InMat. Prior to his work with DSM Ventures, Dr. Tilley was Vice President of Research and Business Development for DSM Desotech, an operating division of DSM that is the global market leader in fiber optic coatings and stereo lithographic resins. During his tenure, he led marketing and technical teams, and built a nano-enabled flat panel displays materials business that was acquired by JSR in 2005. Dr. Tilley also co-founded Kriya Materials B.V., a venture capital backed nano-materials and coatings company based in the Netherlands. Christopher Anzalone, Ph.D. Director Dr. Anzalone is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Arrowhead Research and a majority stockholder of Unidym. He has a wealth of experience in nanotechnology, biotechnology, company-building, and venture capital. Prior to joining Arrowhead, Dr. Anzalone founded and built The Benet Group, a private equity firm focused on creating and building new nanobiotechnology companies from university-generated science. Included in The Benet Group's portfolio are investments in two nanotechnology companies: Nanotope Inc., a tissue regeneration company, and Leonardo Biosystems Inc., a cancer drug delivery company. Prior to Benet, Dr. Anzalone was a partner at the Washington DC-based private equity firm Galway Partners, LLC where he was in charge of sourcing, structuring, and building new business ventures. He was also the founding CEO of NanoInk, Inc., a leading nanolithography company. Dr. Anzalone holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Biology from UCLA and a B.A. in Government from Lawrence University. Malcolm Gillis, Ph.D. Director Dr. Gillis served as the President of William Marsh Rice University from 1993 until 2004 and guided Rice to become a leader in the then emerging field of nanoscience. He played a key role in the establishment of the Rice University's Center of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. His distinguished academic career focused on economics and environmental public policy and included appointments at Duke University and Harvard University. Dr. Gillis' career also includes substantial service to his profession, governments and foundations. He served for five years as coeditor of the oldest economics journal, "Quarterly Journal of Economics." He sits on a diverse array of boards, including the Houston Advanced Research Team, AECOM (NYSE: ACM) and the Advisory board of Texas Council on Economic Education. Dr. Gillis has served as the Director of Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston and on the Advisory Board of Texas Commerce Bank. Edward W. Frykman Director Edward W. Frykman has been an Account Executive with Crowell, Weedon & Co. since 1992. Previously, Mr. Frykman served as Senior Vice President of L.H. Friend & Co. Both Crowell, Weedon & Co. and L.H. Friend & Co. are investment brokerage firms located in Southern California. In addition, Mr. Frykman was a Senior Account Executive with Shearson Lehman Hutton where he served as the Manager of the Los Angeles Regional Retail Office of E. F. Hutton & Co. Dr. Bob Gower Director Dr. Bob Gower, former President and CEO of Carbon Nanotechnologies, Inc., has over 40 years of experience in the chemical industry, 30 of which were in operational and managerial roles for companies such as Atlantic Richfield, ARCO Chemical and Lyondell Petrochemical Company. Gower became President of Lyondell when it was formed in 1985 and led its transformation from an unprofitable company to one recognized as one of the 100 best manufacturing companies in the world when he retired in late 1996. Charles P. McKenney Director Charles P. McKenney has maintained a government affairs law practice in Pasadena, California since 1989, representing businesses and organizations in their relations with government regarding their obligations under state and local land use and trade practices laws. From 1973 through 1989, he served as Attorney for Corporate Government Affairs for Sears, Roebuck and Co., helping organize and carry out Sear's Western state and local government relations programs. Mr. McKenney has served two terms on the Pasadena, California City council, on several city boards and committees in Pasadena, including three city Charter Reform Task Forces. Ray McLaughlin Director Mr. McLaughlin served previously as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Carbon Nanotechnologies, Inc. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Cain Chemical until its purchase by Occidental Petroleum, and as an Executive of the Atlantic Richfield Company. Mr. McLaughlin is a CPA, and received a BBA in Accounting and Economics from Midwestern University, and an MBA from the University of Dallas. |
